Sex Crimes in North Carolina

In North Carolina, when an individual has been accused of a sex crime, the punishment is determined based on the class of the crime. These range from A through I, with A being reserved for the most serious offenses and I being reserved for the least serious ones. For example, Class A crimes can include offenses such as first degree murder and rape, with punishments including life without parole or even a death sentence. On the other end of the spectrum, Class I offenses might include domestic violence charges, with punishments in the realm of 3-12 months.
